Tempe Chamber Introduces New Business Academy 

Yesterday, the Tempe Chamber announced the “Tempe Chamber Business Academy,” a virtual curriculum developed by the Chamber’s Businesses Innovation and Strategy Council designed to give businesses and business leaders the knowledge they need to grow their companies and strengthen our community.

Academy participants will receive structured training in various disciplines ranging from customer acquisition, to marketing, to human resources, to finance. Held virtually, the inaugural 7-month fall session consisting of 90-minute classes will be taught by expert instructors. The first class begins on Tuesday, August 11th at 2:00 pm with a 3-week intensive geared towards pandemic and economic recovery for businesses.

Maricopa County Small Business/Nonprofit Grants 

Beginning on July 9, 2020, the Maricopa County Small Business Relief Program will begin accepting applications to support the continued viability of small businesses. This program will provide up to $10,000 to qualifying organizations for expense reimbursement. Click here for more information.
Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan Extension 
 
On Saturday, July 4, 2020, President Donald Trump signed an extension of the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) through August 8, 2020. Click here for more information. 
Tempe Small Business Emergency Loan Program 

In April 2020, the Tempe Chamber of Commerce announced that the City of Tempe and Chamber member, Desert Financial Credit Union, had partnered to create a new and innovative loan program for smaller Tempe organizations. Small Business Administration Accepting New Applications for Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)

Last month, the Small Business Administration announced it would begin accepting new applications for the Ecnonomic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) advance of up to $10,000. Click here for more information.

Updates from Governor Doug Ducey

On July 9, 2020, Governor Doug Ducey held a press conference issuing a new Executive Order that included limiting indoor dining to less than 50% occupancy. Read the full Executive Order here. 

Governor Ducey also urged continued community guidance and a dramatic expansion in testing through “Project Catapult”. Earlier that day, ADHS and Arizona State University announced a partnership that will provide free saliva-based diagnostic testing to 100,000 underserved communities around the state. Reserve Your Virtual Seat to the e-Business Matchmaking Event 

The Mexican Ministry of Economy in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and ConnectAmericas, organize an e-Business Matchmaking event to take place from July 27, 2020, to July 31, 2020. This event will combine business meetings along with specialized training by experts in the field. 

The objective of this event is to link national exporter SMEs from the Food and Beverages sector with buyers from Canada and the USA in the context of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which will enter into force on July 1st, and as an immediate response to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. ASU Alumni Association Names Board of Directors; National Alumni Council
