Governor Doug Ducey issued an Executive Order last Monday to resume the requirement that an individual receiving unemployment insurance must be actively looking for work. The Order rescinds the March 2020 Executive Order that waived the requirement at the beginning of COVID-19. The action aims to meet the surging job demand and support employers throughout Arizona. According to a recent report by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity, Arizona is likely to see strong job growth through the next year, with more than 325,000 additional jobs in many sectors hit hardest during the pandemic.

Furthermore, Governor Ducey signed legislation to dramatically expand telehealth on Wednesday. House Bill 2454 sponsored by Representative Regina Cobb (R-Kingman) provides greater opportunities for accessible medical services. The action fulfills a priority of his from the State of the State Address in January. The bill expands access to telemedicine for patients, ensures doctors receive equal compensation from insurance companies for telemedicine services and allows out-of-state health care professionals to provide telemedicine in Arizona. A video of the signing can be found here

The Legislature continues to discuss details of the budget; however, it is unclear when both Chambers will reach a consensus.
