| Tempe Keeps its Mask Mandate |
| The Tempe City Council affirmed last week that, effective immediately, the City of Tempe will continue to enforce its mask mandate in all public places, including at all businesses, public transit and city facilities.
Mayor Corey Woods asked that city staff develop ways to use existing data about vaccine rates and case counts as objective thresholds to guide when Tempe may choose to sunset its mask mandate in the future.

SBA Shuttered Venue Operator Grants (SVOG) Application Suspended
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that the application portal for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program has been suspended due to technical issues. This grant program is intended to provide economic relief to live event venues, one of the industries hardest hit by the pandemic. A notice prior to the opening of the application portal will be provided in the coming days. Stay tuned for additional information. Capitol Session Statistics as of 4/09/2021 Days: 89 Number of Bills Posted: 1708 Bills Passed: 252 Bills Signed: 189 Governor Doug Ducey signed legislation aimed to protect businesses acting in good faith during COVID-19 from frivolous lawsuits. Senate Bill 1377, sponsored by Senator Vince Leach (R-Tucson), fulfills one of Governor Ducey's top legislative priorities. The new law provides legal framework for when a liability claim can be brought against a business in relation to COVID-19 while still ensuring that claims based on gross negligence and willful misconduct can still be heard.
According to the Arizona Constitution, the legislative session is 100 days. However, together the Senate President and House Speaker can extend the legislative session. Lawmakers in the House have had small group budget discussions and will continue to iron out the details in the coming weeks. It is likely that the Legislative Session will be extended.
On Monday, Governor Doug Ducey signed legislation to extend the state individual income tax filing deadline from Thursday, April 15 to Monday, May 17 to match the federal government's decision to extend its filing deadline.

Embry Health Offers Employer Vaccination Events
Embry Health is offering free vaccination events for employers anywhere in the state looking to get their employees vaccinated against Covid-19. Raymond Embry, CEO of Embry Health, said that companies of any size can set up vaccination events, from agencies with 20 employees to those with thousands. Embry Health is currently offering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, but the specific vaccine brand is subject to change employees to those with thousands. Property management companies are also encouraged to get in touch to schedule vaccination events for tenants, so multiple employers can be serviced at once. Embry said it is typically taking a week or two between setting up an event and the event actually happening.
