The Tempe Chamber is proud to announce the appointment of six new members to its Board of Directors that began their terms on July 1, 2020.

Sukki Jahnke, CMP, Awarded Planner of the Year
The Tempe Chamber is proud to announce that Sukki Jahnke, Vice President of Marketing & Programs, has been named the 2020 Planner of the Year by the Meeting Professionals Internationals MPI Arizona Sunbelt Chapter (MPI AZ), during a virtual ceremony on June 30, 2020.
The Chapter Excellence Award Recognizes an active planner member who has demonstrated leadership, delivers exceptional meetings and has made significant contributions to MPI, our Chapter and the meetings industry.

Maricopa County Small Business/Nonprofit Grants
Beginning on July 9, 2020, the Maricopa County Small Business Relief Program will begin accepting applications to support the continued viability of small businesses. This program will provide up to $10,000 to qualifying organizations for expense reimbursement. Click here for more information.

In April 2020, the Tempe Chamber of Commerce announced that the City of Tempe and Chamber member, Desert Financial Credit Union, had partnered to create a new and innovative loan program for smaller Tempe organizations. City of Tempe Receives National Recognition
The City of Tempe is proud to announce that it has been recognized for achieving 2020 What Works Cities Certification at the gold level. What Works Cities (WWC) certification evaluates how effectively cities are managed by measuring the extent to which city leaders incorporate data and evidence in their decision-making -- whether they have the right people, processes, and policies in place to put data and evidence at the center of decision-making -- against a national standard of excellence. Phoenix Zoo Closure Notice
In a statement released on Monday by the Phoenix Zoo, they will be closing their doors to foot traffic effective immediately.

On July 1, 2020, United Food Bank announced Raveen Arora to serve as the Incoming Board Chair for the 2020-21 term.
