Happy Thanksgiving From the Tempe Chamber!

While this year has been full of challenges, we are grateful for the continued partnerships with Tempe businesses and organizations, and for the opportunity to keep working together. With more than 650 members, we thank all of you for innovating with us this year.

Please note: the Tempe Chamber office will be closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th in observance of Thanksgiving. *Staff will resume work on Monday, November 30, 2020.

*The Tempe Chamber's physical office remains closed and staff is still working remotely to serve our members. Certificate of Origin Appointments can be made by contacting (480) 967-7891.

Tempe Chamber Military Affairs Committee Toys for Tots Drive

Next Friday, Tempe Chamber's Military Affairs Committee will be hosting a Toys for Tots Drive at MAC6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a new and unwrapped toy or check made out to "Toys for Tots - Maricopa" and help "Fill A Truck!" 

 
Emerging Issues Forum: Building Workplace Diversity and Inclusion

Taking place on December 11, 2020, beginning at 8 a.m., Emerging Issues Forum: Building Workplace Diversity & Inclusion will bring together a panel of diversity and inclusion leaders from different industry sectors to share tangible ways they have advocated for equity in their workplace. 

Sponsored by SRP, this virtual event will be moderated by the City of Tempe's Diversity and Inclusion Manager Jonae Harrison and identify ideas and tips attendees can incorporate into improving the culture within their organizations.

Military Affairs Committee Silent Auction Closes Friday

Still searching for the perfect gift for the Holidays? The Tempe Chamber's Military Affairs Committee Silent Auction is still LIVE and accepting bids until 9 p.m. on Black Friday. 

This silent auction includes specialty items like an autographed Larry Fitzgerald helmet, an Arizona Coyotes autographed hat and puck, and a 2006 Ferrari-Carano PreVail Back 40 Alexander Vall bottle of wine. 

 
2021 Mentoring Program | Still Time to Apply!

The Tempe Chamber Women in Business Council has updated the 2021 Mentoring Program timeline to February through April with two monthly workshops. Tempe Schools Return to Virtual Learning

Both Tempe Elementary District No. 3 and Tempe Unified High School District are returning to virtual learning. 

Tempe Elementary District No. 3 returned to virtual learning yesterday, while Tempe Unified HighSchool District will return to virtual learning on November 30, 2020. 

 
Arizona Speaks 2020: The State of Small Business

Maricopa Small Business Forum 

On December 3, 2020, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and U.S. Department of Treasury will be hosting a Maricopa County Small Business Forum that will provide a brief overview of small business lending conditions during the pandemic, and showcase options available to assist small businesses. This virtual event will feature nonprofits and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) who provide technical assistance and alternative financing options which provide access to capital and support small business growth.

Downtown Tempe Authority Needs Your Help!

Downtown Tempe Authority, the Business Improvement District for downtown Tempe, has partnered with the International Downtown Association to gather consumer opinions with a second, updated survey (you may have taken the initial Urban District Consumer Survey). As COVID continues to profoundly impact our community, it is more important than ever to know the priorities, concerns and behaviors of our office workers, residents and consumers.

With that in mind, Downtown Tempe Authority, in partnership with the International Downtown Association and RRC Associates, is launching Wave 2 of our Covid-19 Downtown District Sentiment Survey. Based on feedback and suggestions from Wave 1 participants, we have added new questions to address shopping, special events and transportation issues. Learn more and take the survey today.

Apply Now for Emergency Rent, Mortgage Funds Through City of Tempe

Nearly $2 million in new emergency rent and mortgage assistance is available through the City of Tempe to help those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic remain housed. Applicants must live or work in Tempe and meet income and other requirements. Those approved can receive up to $10,000 or six months in assistance; funds can be used for back payments. 
 
 
New Financial Navigator Available for Tempe Residents

A new no-cost Financial Navigator Program is available to help residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic connect with financial resources, understand how to work with creditors and maximize their income.
 
Residents will get one-on-one assistance over the phone and can tailor a plan to their specific needs, everything from applying for rent assistance to managing college loans to finding free tax help. View the full City of Tempe article.
