The Tempe Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee (MAC) is proud to host its second Stars and Strikes Bowling Fundraiser event.

A portion of proceeds will support MAC in its mission to serve as a proactive voice supporting military personnel in the greater Phoenix area.

Join us September 11th from 5:30-8pm for this team building experience for a great cause. Single player and sponsored lane packages are available now! Sponsorships can be purchased on the ticket page.

New Program Offers Funding to Address Social Issues
Tempe Community Council (TCC) announces its new Connector Award offering funding for innovative and new ideas addressing loneliness and social isolation in Tempe. 
The Connector Award is designed to fund projects in areas crucial to addressing a human service need in Tempe. Community members and social service providers in Tempe recently told TCC that loneliness and social isolation are critical issues to be addressed.

Tempe Proposing General Plan Amendments to Guide Future
Tempe is currently looking at two proposed major amendments to the General Plan 2040 - the Urban Core Master Plan/Transportation Overlay District and Broadways Industrial Hub - Tempe Maker District. 

The Urban Core Master Plan is designed t guide future development in Tempe's urban core, while the updated Transportation Overlay District code will help promote transit ridership and shape development around the light rail and streetcar routes. The proposed Broadway Industrial Hub - Tempe Maker District is designed to encourage redevelopment, increased densities and diverse land use options in the area between Broadways Road, Southern Avenue, Priest Drive and Kyrene Road alignment.

Tempe Streetcar Construction Update
  • 9th Street & 11th Street west of Mill Avenue: Electrical upgrades for traffic signals may cause intermittent turn restrictions/closures.
  • Apache Blvd from Gammage Curve to Rural Road: Concrete preparation work for the Overhead Catenary System foundations continues, along with electrical upgrades. Traffic will be maintained in both directions. Expect sidewalk/crosswalk detours.
  • Apache Blvd from Rural Road to Cedar Street: Road widening work continues near Terrace Boulevard and concrete preparation work for the Overhead Catenary System foundations continues. Traffic will be maintained in both directions. Expect turn restrictions, metered parking restrictions and possible sidewalk/crosswalk detours.
  • Rio Salado Parkway: Paving efforts continue along with sewer line relocation east of Marina Heights. Traffic signals will also continue to be installed.
  • Downtown Mill Avenue: Track installation continues along Mill Avenue on schedule. Streetcar stop infrastructure will also be installed. Click here to view the construction notice.
